Elemental Convergence
Multimedia Sculpture: steel, limestone & wood (maple, sycamore, walnut, and zebrawood) by Nora H.
“Limestone (displayed by the cast discs) is one of the oldest and most plentiful substances on earth, dating back to the Precambrian era over 540 million years ago. Wood (displayed by the lathe-turned rounds) has been a primary material of use throughout known human history. Steel (displayed by the MIG welded frame) is a physical representation of modern industrial advancement. We take substances from the earth and process them into major building blocks of the modern world. This piece is a visual representation of Shanti in Hinduism: ecological, social, and spiritual peace. It displays a convergence of distinct earthly elements that evoke a sense of spiritual balance and harmony.”

Cascading Prayers of Love
Watercolor Painting by Ellyana H.
“This painting was inspired by the journal of Hannah Hurnard, the author of Hinds Feet on High Places. She reflected on the self-giving nature of love as she gazed at a waterfall in Sweden. Love is humble as it continually goes lower. It is giving as it unceasingly pours out. Love is a service to others, giving life to all it touches. But love can only make a difference if it comes from a high place of faith and obedience. After reading her reflections, I have prayed this for my own life. That I would embody this kind of selfless love that is unafraid to plunge over the edge. Every time I see a waterfall, I am now reminded of God, His joyful and generous love and am encouraged to love like Him.”

Freedom in His Presence
Acrylic Painting by Lily P.
“This painting is to represent the freedom, love, and grace Christ brings when we pray in his presence. Prayer is not just a dictated to-do for good Christians, its a real, vulnerable, authentic communication with our creator. The flowers in the girls hair represent the freedom and life that Christ brings when we lay our hearts down at his feet. Jesus has traded our ashes for his beauty, and is thus crowning the girl with life and with beauty.”

Intercession
Acrylic Paint on Skin Collage by Sue T.
“Intercession is the action of intervening on behalf of another. It is Christ who died, or rather, who was raised, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. (Romans 8:34) Intercession is also the action of saying a prayer on behalf of another person. I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone‚ (1 Timothy 2:1)
Layers of acrylic paint were applied onto a piece of glass. Several layers of Self Leveling Gel were added to the backside of the painting. Then the paint skin was peeled away from the glass. Fiber Paste was added to the base of some tiles to create height. Over 430 tiles were cut and used in this collage. All tiles were then attached with a low temperature glue gun. The circle around the cross was highlighted with Gold Mica Flakes. The hilltop was highlighted with Gold Mica Flakes mixed with Micaceous Iron Oxide.”

Textured Painting on Canvas by Pragya T.
“In 2019, I visited this beautiful island near Munising, Michigan and since then I wanted to express it in my painting. I take inspiration by nature and like to capture its beauty in my art. Being close to nature not only brings me peace but also boost my inspirational drive. I feel amazed by observing complex patterns and various textures that is available to us by nature. Participating in the Art Show is actually me coming out of my shell. As a kid I did many art project for myself, during Covid when I was stuck at home I rediscovered myself. Since then I have been actively taking art workshops whenever I can, self teaching and experimenting with various art styles and mediums. I hope to express my creativity through my art. To give a 3D effect I am using modeling paste along with Acrylic paints.”

Quaking Aspen
Watercolor Painting by Kate B.
“I was inspired by Pando, the Quaking Giant in Utah. It is one of the world’s oldest and most massive living organism. It is formed from one tree whose roots have spread to create around 47,000 branches that look like individual trees, but are identical genetically to the parent tree. It reminds me of the Word of God and how we are all the children of God. I am reminded of Matthew 18:20, ‘For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.’ When we pray together, let us pray for peace.”
A Prayer for Good Friends
Pencil Drawing by Madison K.
“This piece was inspired by a trip I took with two of my closest friends. However, it was not completed until a month later. Shortly after the trip, I had a lovely brunch with a few of my other friends and was motivated to finish it. It reminds me of and depicts the appreciation I have of the wonderful companionship God had given me with others in my life. It's something I pray that everyone has the joy of finding and experiencing.”

Textile Design Collection
Textiles by Maggie W.
“The patterns were digitally drawn and tiled, then sublimated and printed on various items and fabrics. After years of art classes and training in painting and drawing, I have learned that I love to create textiles because it’s so exciting to see my design reproduced on items that can be useful. The process also fits my style of art-making, as much of it involves creating small doodles and then multiplying them, so I don’t lose interest in the process of creating a larger piece‚ a common issue that I ran into often while studying painting. My inspiration to create textiles came at a young age when it seems like everyone at school (including me) had a Vera Bradley lunch box, and I was inspired by the variety of colors and floral patterns. While I still find their patterns beautiful, I try to expand the horizons when it comes to subject matter and make each piece reflect my own style. The most elaborate piece, which includes 40 different world landmarks, is inspired by my love of traveling. While I have not traveled to see the majority of them, I enjoyed learning about the different landmarks and why they are significant to the areas in which they are located. The fruit and veggie pattern was not meant to be a textile at first, but I challenged myself to create a complex pattern out of simple doodles that I had created for another project. I’ve always enjoyed working and experimenting with color, inspired by the work of early Disney artists such as Mary Blair. Sadly, I haven’t had much time to create new artwork this past year, and now that I am no longer in school and in art classes, it‚’s hard to figure out where to get started and how to get motivated to create when there’s no deadlines or grades to work towards. In the process of creating these textiles, I have rediscovered the joy of creating something new and seeing the finished product.
