Care Ministry
Prince of Peace has always been a caring congregation. The Care Ministry is organized caring -- Reaching, Growing, Serving through Intentional Caring!
Our motto is Christ's own words from Matthew 25:40: 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Every precaution is taken regarding confidentiality. Only pertinent information needed to meet the individual's needs is ever disclosed.
Care Ministry volunteers are dedicated to bringing comfort and cheer to Prince of Peace members and friends. Five areas of service make use of a variety of talents and time availabilities:
Team Cheer:
A monthly commitment to send cards or notes to individuals who are near and dear to Prince of Peace. There is a maximum of 5 card recipients per team member.
Team Cards:
Send cards or handwritten notes of encouragement, cheer, get well, sympathy, congratulations, etc., as needed. Team members serve once every three months.
Team Meals:
Provide meals for individuals or families who are unable to prepare meals for themselves due to special circumstances. Meals can range from just an entrée to an entire meal. Team members are organized by zip code for easy delivery and rotated on an as-needed basis.
Team Comfort:
Provide support to Prince of Peace members in the event of the loss of a loved one:
- Grief Support: Provide written support or phone calls at six pre-determined intervals during the first year following a loved one's passing.
- Luncheon: Help provide a post-funeral luncheon at Prince of Peace with a pre-determined menu. Sub-teams are in charge of providing a salad or dessert; or setting up and cleaning up.
Visitation Ministry:
Share Jesus' love through phone calls, hospital visits, or home/shut-in visits. Training is available in cooperation with Laura Froehling, Parish Nurse.
There are a variety of opportunities to serve in the Prince of Peace Care Ministry. Many volunteers make lighter work for all. If you would like to know more about assistance from or serving in the Care Ministry, please call the church office at 847-359-3451.
